Microsurgery Fellowship
Program Directors

Application registration begins in January through the SF Match application portal. Interviews will be held in April.
Surgical Training
As a fellow, your microsurgical education will encompass the full breadth of reconstruction including head and neck, breast, trunk, upper and lower extremities, lymphedema surgery and cancer reconstruction, with additional multidisciplinary efforts between plastic and orthopedic surgery with emphasis on limb salvage and reconstruction. Fellows have the opportunity to operate at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Christian Northeast Hospital, and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
This program includes a combination of didactic and clinical teaching in the operating room and clinical settings. Fellows will be assigned on a rotating basis to work with attending microvascular surgeons in orthopedic and plastic surgery. Our goal is to offer fellows an experience that allows for approximately equal exposure to orthopedic and plastic surgical perspectives, and to leverage the advantages of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Our faculty will be closely involved in your training, while still giving you the opportunity to gain independence. You will participate not only as a trainee, but also as a teacher. As a fellow, you will work closely with residents in plastic surgery and with medical students.
Research
Faculty in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery have a wide range of research interests. During the course of your fellowship, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and conduct research within the department labs. At the end of this year-long fellowship, you will submit your abstracts to the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery Annual Meeting.
